2018 Hyundai Tucson

The Tucson was just redesigned in 2016 and brought several new upgrades to the table then. This year isn't expected to bring much in the way of new features, but it stands to continue its legacy of performance and dependability. It's appointed with high-quality materials, a rugged construction and great technology options, as well as an outstanding warranty.

Trim Levels and Features

There are five different levels of trim available on the new Tucson. These are the base SE, the SEL, the Value Trim, the Eco and the range-topping Limited level. The Night trim from last year has been discontinued.

Standard features include heated mirrors, cruise control, air conditioning, Bluetooth connectivity for phone and audio, an infotainment system that's driven by a 5-inch touchscreen, six speaker sound, CD player, satellite radio, USB port and auxiliary jack. You also get a rearview camera. Adding an optional Popular Package gives you power driver seat, daytime running lights and LED headlight accents.

Additional features at higher level trims give you power liftgate, keyless ignition and entry, heated seats, additional safety features, automatic climate control, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, upgraded audio system with HD radio, extra speakers and more.

Performance and Safety

The base level Tucson is powered by a 4-cylinder engine that puts out 164 horsepower and is paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Upgraded engines are available, including a 1.6-liter turbo-4 paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, giving you 175 horsepower.

Safety ratings aren't available just yet, but the 2017 model got five stars for overall crash protection from the government, as well as a top Good score from the IIHS in frontal impact and side impact crash tests in addition to roof strength and head restraints. It also received the highest Superior rating for its frontal crash mitigation system, meaning it's a superior vehicle in terms of keeping you safe on the roads.
