What Is the Range of the IONIQ 6?

The IONIQ 6 boasts a Hyundai-estimated range of 360 miles on a single charge.2 Talk about going the distance! How is it capable of covering such a long distance? It all starts with the advanced E-GMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform) EV platform, a long wheelbase that optimizes driving dynamics.

It also comes with a bevy of additional performance features that help it achieve an overall drag coefficient of 0.22, which is ideal for efficiency. They include:

  • Active air flaps
  • Wheel gap reducers
  • Elliptical wing-inspired spoiler with winglet
  • Full underbody cover

Less drag also lends itself to more speed, which is another area in which the IONIQ 6 excels.

What Is the 0 to 60 MPH Time of the Hyundai IONIQ 6?

The Hyundai IONIQ 6 will be able to sprint from 0 to 60 MPH in less than five seconds when equipped with the 77.4 kWh battery pack with two electric motor layouts. This dual motor setup produces a combined power output of:

  • 320 horsepower
  • 446 lb-ft of torque

You'll enjoy optimal control even with all that power at your command, thanks to the available e-AWD (all-wheel drive). You'll also be able to completely personalize your driving experience with EV Performance Tune-up, which lets you adjust parameters like steering effort, motor power, accelerator pedal pressure sensitivity, and driveline.

How Long Does It Take to Charge?

The Hyundai IONIQ 6 is capable of ultra-fast charging. A 350-kW charger will take the IONIQ 6 from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes. If you only have five minutes to spare while you run into the café to grab a coffee, it's worth plugging in the charger. It can recoup about 65 miles of range in that time.

The E-GMP supports both 400-volt and 800-volt charging infrastructures. While the 800-volt charging capability is standard, it can accommodate 400-volt charging without additional components or adapters. This is all thanks to the first-ever patented multi-charging system of the IONIQ 6. It operates the motor and the inverter to boost 400 volts to 800 volts for stable charging compatability.

How Safe Is the IONIQ 6?

The Hyundai IONIQ 6 might be a new addition to the Hyundai lineup; however, it still comes with the tried-and-true safety systems of Hyundai SmartSense. This suite includes standard safety features, like:

  • Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist
  • Lane Departure Warning/Lane Keeping Assist
  • Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist
  • Driver Attention Warning
  • Remote Smart Parking Assist 2

Highway Driving Assist 2 is also an available feature in the IONIQ 6. This advanced cruise control will keep you completely at ease during the daily commute. It helps keep you centered in your lane, while maintaining a variable speed and a safe distance between you and the vehicle ahead.
