2017 Hyundai Veloster Safety

Safety is of paramount importance, not just to drivers in St. Louis, St. Charles, O'Fallon and Saint Peters but all over the nation. When you're commuting to work, taking the kids to hockey practice, going to the grocery store or taking a family road trip, you want the reassurance that, if the unthinkable happens, your car is going to protect you.

Safety technologies are always on the rise, and Hyundai has a reputation for secure vehicles. The Hyundai Veloster, the maker's three-door compact car model, is no exception. It has all the safety features you could hope for in a small coupe, and the safety ratings from crash test agencies to back it up. Learn about the 2017 Hyundai Veloster safety ratings, features and technology, and discover where you can go to check these options out and take a test drive.

2017 Hyundai Veloster Safety Features

The new Veloster comes with a range of high-end safety features for a small car. These include airbags in all the right places, and a special Vehicle Stability Management system that's unique to Hyundai vehicles.

This system combines its stability and traction control features with its antilock brakes and electronic brake-force distribution functionality, as well as automatic emergency brake assist, to create a safety system that's integrated in a way that few other vehicles can match. It also comes with a standard rearview camera, which feeds through the 7-inch central touchscreen, and includes guidelines and rear parking sensors.

Other Safety Features

The specialized Vehicle Stability Management System isn't the end of the outstanding safety suite available on the new Veloster, however. Other features include six airbags-driver, passenger, rear, side, side and rear head, and rear body. It comes with standard or available automatic headlights, daytime running lights, child safety locks, integrated turn signal mirrors, night vision, a rollover protection system, emergency trunk release, blind spot monitoring and lane departure warning systems.

Safety Ratings

The government crash test ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) are nothing short of outstanding for the new Veloster. The coupe gets an overall 5-star (out of 5) overall rating with four stars for frontal crash, five for side crash and four for rollover protection.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, or IIHS, gave the Veloster the top Good score in moderate overlap front crash, rear crash and roof strength head results, an outstanding overall score. As small cars go, the Veloster is even seen by safety crash test agencies to be a great choice for staying secure on the roads.
